The Lac aux Castors ("Beaver Lake") is an artificial lake in Montreal , in the middle of the Parc du Mont-Royal on Montreal's local mountain, Mont Royal . It was created in 1938 in a marshland according to plans by the landscape architect Frederick Gage Todd . The name refers to old beaver dams that came to light during the construction work.

The lake is around 200 meters long and 150 meters wide and has the shape of a four-leaf clover. In winter it freezes over and can be used for ice skating. At the western end of the lake is a pavilion that was opened in 1961.
