The Lac de la Tete d'Or or Lac du Parc de la Tete d'Or is an artificial lake in Lyon's Park of the Golden Head . It covers an area of approximately 17 hectares and was created together with the park in 1857.
Islands
There are 4 artificial islands in the lake:
- The Big Island (fr: Grande Île) , surrounded by the avenue Belle Vue and on which the Vélodrome Georges-Préveral is located.
- Dir Memorial Island (fr: Île du Souvenir) , formerly the island of the swans. It is accessible through a tunnel. On it stands the Monument aux morts de l'île du Souvenir by Tony Garnier (architect)
- The island of the tamarind tree can be reached by boat
- The Gandhi Island
