Lacus Bonitatis - Latin for lake of goodness - is a solidified lava lake on the moon , the origin of which resembles the larger Maria . The name was established by the International Astronomical Union in 1976.
The dark gray, irregular plain has a mean diameter of 92 kilometers and is located in the northeast of the moon side facing the earth at the selenographic coordinates 23 ° 12 'north and 43 ° 42' east, northwest at the Macrobius crater . To the west of the formation is the Marebeach Sinus Amoris and to the northwest the Montes Taurus .
