Laerholz

The Laerholz is a small forest area in Bochum-Querenburg . It stretches from the Uni-Center to Schattbachstrasse over a kilometer. It is bordered on the sides by Hustadtring and Laerholzstraße. The Asbecke flows through it. Traces of the former mining can still be found in the forest, including Pingen . They are accessible via the Ruhr University mining trail . Bat boxes were hung to promote nature conservation . Until 2002, the forest was also the crime scene of the university phantom .
