The New Gymnasium Stuttgart-Feuerbach (NG) is a state general education high school in Stuttgart-Feuerbach . It is located opposite the Leibniz Gymnasium (LG).

history

The grammar school was founded in 1897 as a private daughter school by August Happold and eleven other fathers. The first headmaster was Eugen Geiger, who was previously a teacher at the boys' school that was already in existence at the time (today's Leibniz Gymnasium). Initially, the school was located on Karlsplatz, today's Wilhelm-Geiger-Platz, and later in the so-called "Happold-Stift" in Leobener Straße, where the boys' school had been running since 1889. Due to the establishment of private girls' school has been teaching girls and boys from then completed separately, a situation that persisted with exceptions to the 1969th

In 1903 the school was renamed the Girls 'School and in 1913 moved together with the boys' school into a building built by Paul Bonatz , the so-called " Bonatzbau ". A year later the school became a girls' secondary school . Further renaming took place in 1937 ( high school for girls ), 1953 ( Progymnasium for girls ) and 1957 ( Gymnasium for girls ).

The current school building was completed in 1956. The grammar school has had its current name, Neues Gymnasium, since 1970 . It is now co-educational , i.e. boys and girls are taught together. The resultant increase in the number of students, however, resulted in a school division and the re-establishment of the Solitude high school in Weilimdorf .

From the 2018/2019 school year, the New Gymnasium will merge with the neighboring Leibniz Gymnasium. Initially under the working title of Neues Gymnasium Leibniz, or “NGL” for short.

In addition, there is then an all-day school branch at this school.

School profile

The New Gymnasium offers a bilingual train in cooperation with the Leibniz Gymnasium . The "International Abitur Baden-Württemberg" can be achieved.

The junior company "Senioren Service", with which students of a business course took part in the junior program of the Institute of German Economy , also gained prominence . In addition to this junior company, there were also several "seminar courses" with various topics. Among other things, a book project on the subject of “Feuerbach in Transition”.
