The Jörg-Ratgeb-Schule Neugereut (JRSN) is a combined school consisting of a grammar school and a secondary school in Stuttgart- Neugereut . At the moment there is still a Werkrealschulzug in some classes, but this will expire in the future. The namesake is Jerg Ratgeb , a painter of the Dürer period.

history

At the end of the 1960s, a new school was planned for the new district of Neugereut, which was created from 1971 onwards. The city council of Stuttgart decided to set up a future school type. The then Mayor of Stuttgart Arnulf Klett informed the Minister of Education Wilhelm Hahn : The state capital Stuttgart is willing to use the favorable planning conditions available there and to make a contribution to school development in the state of Baden-Württemberg and in the Federal Republic of Germany through a comprehensive school model. The school was handed over to the community on August 28, 1977 and started operating. The system of the integrated comprehensive school proved itself educationally, but found no support from the responsible state politicians. The Ministry of Education announced that the school would not be considered an equal type of school with the others. The attempt at the integrated comprehensive school was ended in mid-1982. Since then the school types Gymnasium, Realschule and Hauptschule have been taught. Some pedagogical approaches have been adopted, a change within the school types is possible without any problems, the educators see themselves as a body that is responsible for the school types. The school management for the entire school lies with the headmaster of the grammar school, the deputy to the head of the secondary school. The equipment in the various departments is also used jointly and comprehensively by the school types. In the spring of 2016, the colleges decided that the school types "Realschule" and "Werkrealschule" will in future be merged into one type of school, namely the "Realschule according to the Neugereuter model".

After the official termination of the comprehensive school model by the ministry, a name for the school became necessary. The responsible committees agreed to name Jörg Ratgeb, who was a late medieval painter. He was involved in the Peasant Wars and was executed in 1526. The school became JRSN (Jörg-Ratgeb-Schule Neugereut).

BK profile as a specialty of the grammar school

In the grammar school at the Jörg-Ratgeb-Schule Neugereut there is an optional extended art class (BK) called "BK-Profil". From the 5th to 7th grade there is an additional lesson for this purpose. As with every profile, in grades 8 to 10 four lessons of the profile subject are taught per week.

Elective in the upper level The 11th and 12th grades are referred to as the upper level. There are various electives in the upper level. For example the subjects "Literature and Theater", "Psychology", "Computer Science" or "Philosophy". They are chosen before the transition from lower to upper school. Electives are always taught two hours a week.

Class lesson There is a compulsory AG (ArbeitsGemgemeinschaft) up to class 10, which is called "class lesson" and in which both class teachers who are equally responsible for the class are present. It serves to clarify organizational matters, but also includes e.g. settling disputes in class.

Other school facilities

• The sports hall belonging to the school is also used outside of school. It is very popular with badminton athletes from the Sports and Culture Association (SKG) Stuttgart Max-Eyth-See 1898 eV
• In the large cafeteria, up to 170 meals are served daily. The two menus available for selection are supplied by a large kitchen.
• Activities are offered in around 40 different working groups, and additional foreign languages ​​can also be learned here.
• The playroom offers a large number of board and card games, as well as table football, billiards and table tennis.
• If there is enough demand, the JRSN grammar school offers to set up a class as a bound all-day class.
• A detailed house rule regulates the behavior of the students.

Fire damage to the building

In April 2006, a fire broke out in the building, starting in a staff room on the first floor. There was property damage in the millions. Structural engineers determined that the building was in danger of collapsing, and the roof structure was also damaged. Around 1,100 students had to be taught in other schools at times.

Awards etc.

On April 24, 2011, 10th grade students won the “Mach your Clip” competition, which was part of the state's youth art award . This is the nationwide main prize for a video clip that was developed in the art profile course with art teacher Wolfgang Neumann.
