Lagarteira is a place and a former municipality in central Portugal . Lagarteira belongs to the Ansião district in the Leiria district . The community had an area of ​​7.5 km² and 505 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

The place is about six kilometers north of the district town Ansião. The municipality includes two exclaves. The village is dominated by agriculture and animal husbandry. The local patron is St. Dominic , whose feast is celebrated annually between the last Sunday in July and the first Sunday in August.

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Lagarteira and Torre de Vale de Todos were incorporated into the municipality of Ansião .

Buildings

The townscape is determined by the parish church, in front of which there is an approximately 700 year old ash tree .
