The Lagdo reservoir is a reservoir on the Benue in Cameroon .
location
The lake is located in the north province . It is located about 50 km south of the city of Garoua . The lake has an area of 586 km², the largest part of which is in the Mayo-Rey department and a smaller part including the dam in the Bénoue department. The main tributaries are Mayo Godi, Mayo Rey and Mayo Oldiri. The town of Lagdo is located by the dam, not far from the lake on Mayo Rey, the town of Rey Bouba .
Barrier structure
The barrier structure is a stone embankment dam with a length of 308 m and a height of 40 m. The dam was built from 1977 to 1982 with Chinese support (China International Water & Electric Corp.) to supply North Cameroon with electricity.
power plant
The Lagdo power plant has an installed capacity of 72 MW . It went into operation in 1982. The 4 turbines of the power plant have a maximum output of 18 MW each.
