Storage class
Each stored hazardous substance is assigned a storage class (LGK) depending on its hazard characteristics. It is important when storing hazardous substances .
Derivation
The definition of the storage classes corresponds to the "Concept for the joint storage of chemicals" of the Association of the Chemical Industry . The basis of this concept are laws, regulations and technical rules of the Federal Republic of Germany. In the meantime, this definition of the storage class has been adopted in TRGS 510 - "Storage of hazardous substances in portable containers".
Storage classes and their assignment
A hazardous substance is assigned to a storage class on the basis of available information such as in the safety data sheet or the labeling under hazardous substances or dangerous goods law. Each hazardous substance is classified in a single storage class. The storage class results from the hazard characteristic, which is the first to apply in a defined flow chart.

Joint storage
Hazardous substances of a storage class may generally be stored in a storage section . The joint storage of hazardous substances of different storage classes is described in detail by a table Separate or joint storage in the VCI concept or the TRGS 510.
There are no joint storage restrictions within storage classes 10 - 13. When items from LGK 10 - 13 are stored together with other storage classes, the risk of fire of the substance and packaging must be taken into account when using the table for separate or joint storage.
