The dam Bald Hill ( English Bald Hill Dam ) is located in Barnes County in the US state of North Dakota . It dams the Sheyenne River to the Ashtabula Reservoir ( Lake Ashtabula in English ). The dam was completed in 1951. The town of Valley City is approximately 15 km southeast of the dam.

Barrier structure
The barrier is an earth embankment dam approximately 18 m (60 ft ) high . The length of the dam crest is 548 m (1800 ft). The weir system with the three weir fields is on the right bank. A maximum of 3,568 m³ / s (126,000 ft³ / s) can be discharged through the weir system .
Reservoir
At the normal storage destination , the reservoir extends over an area of around 22 km² (8.5 mi² ). At this dam target it holds 85.7 million m³ (69,500 acre-feet ) of water. A maximum of 192.4 million m³ (156,000 acre-feet ) can be stored in the reservoir .
