The Lake Colac is located near the town of Colac in Victoria in Australia . In mid-January 2009, after a prolonged drought, the 1,820 hectare lake fell dry for the first time in 173 years, but was filled again by the rains in 2010.
tourism
In 1870 the first pleasure boat drove on the lake and in 1879 the first regatta was held, but this was canceled in the dry years. At the lake there is a yacht and rowing club, boat ramps, barbecue areas, picnic tables, public toilets and the Colac Botanical Garden .
Lake Colac is a bird sanctuary for 20 water bird species and for migratory birds.
