The Lake-250 Renegade, also called Lake LA4-250 Renegade , is an amphibious aircraft with retractable landing gear made by the American manufacturer Lake Aircraft . The Renegade is currently (2017) in production, the last variant of a development series that led to the Colonial Skimmer and the Lake Buccaneer .

History and equipment

The construction period of this type of aircraft extends from 1982 to the present. This type of aircraft is used as a rescue and reconnaissance aircraft. The LA-250 Seawolf variant is mainly used for coastal protection . The only difference between the Lake LA-270 Turbo Renegade and the LA-250 Renegade is the larger, supercharged Lycoming IO-540-AA1AD engine that delivers 201 kW (270 hp). With a Lake LA-270 Turbo Renegade, pilots Peter Foster and Robert Mann set a world record in 1988 with an altitude of 7467.60 meters, the highest altitude in the class of light amphibious aircraft.
