The Lake Yarrunga is a reservoir southwest of Wollongong in the southeast of the Australian state of New South Wales in the coastal mountains. The lake is dammed by the Tallowa Dam and is located on the lower reaches of the Kangaroo River and the Shoalhaven River . It is also fed by Yarrunga Creek and Bundanoon Creek , tributaries of the Kangaroo River, and is used to generate energy for the greater Wollongong area.

The water can be pumped from Lake Yarrunga to Fitzroy Falls Reservoir and drained through the power plant. It is therefore a pumped storage power plant .

The settlement of Bendeela is on the north shore of the lake . The small town of Bundanoon is located approx. 12 km (as the crow flies) north above the lake on Bundanoon Creek. However, it can only be reached by road after driving 62 km. The small town of Kangaroo Valley is at the top of the lake on the Kangaroo River.
