Lake of Bays is a village with approx. 3,000 inhabitants (as of 2006) in the Muskoka District Municipality in Ontario . It is located 193 km north of Toronto in the province of Ontario, Canada . It is named after the lake of the same name, Lake of Bays, which largely belongs to the municipality.
The community was created in 1971 through the merger of the previously independent communities Franklin, Ridout, McLean and Sinclair / Finlayson. The administration is based in Dwight .
