General

Lakka is the second largest town on Paxos after Gaios and has 147 inhabitants. The residents live from tourism, olive cultivation and fishing. There are good supply options, several supermarkets, bakers and butchers as well as numerous cafes, bars and taverns. There are several beaches: Paralia Lakka and Paralía Kanóni inside the bay and Meattie Buir's Beach and Plani Beach outside the bay. The bus to Gaios runs twice a day. A passenger ferry arrives daily and docks at the northeast corner of the harbor pier.

Maritime

Lakka is located on an almost circular anchor bay with a width of 500 meters and a length of 800 meters. The average water depth is 3 meters, the maximum depth inside the bay is 5 meters. The Akra Lakka peninsula cuts the bay from the open sea. The turquoise-blue water is unique. The color of the water in the lagoon-like bay is created by the evenly shallow water, the fine, very light sand and hardly any seaweed or stones in large parts of the bay. The anchorage is sandy and holds up well. Just off the pier there are few berths. There is electricity and water at charging stations, and diesel by truck.
