(227641) Nothomb is an asteroid located in the outer main belt . It was discovered on January 28, 2006 by the French computer scientist and amateur astronomer Jean-Claude Merlin at the fully automatic Ritchey-Chrétien 81 cm telescope at the Tenagra II Observatory in Nogales , Arizona ( IAU code 926). The telescope was able to head for Merlin from France when it was discovered. The asteroid had been sighted several times before, for example on October 7, 2004 under the provisional designation 2004 TS 348 at the Steward Observatory's remote station on Kitt Peak as part of the Spacewatch project.

The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis . The timeless (not osculating ) orbital elements of (227,641) Nothomb are almost identical to those of 27 other asteroids, which include (1223) Neckar and (15501) Pepawlowski belong.

(227641) Nothomb was named on January 30, 2010 after the Belgian writer Amélie Nothomb . Her novel “ With amazement and tremors ” (original: Stupeur et Tremblements ) from 1999 was particularly emphasized in the dedication .
