Lamancha House is a mansion near the Scottish village of Lamancha in the Council Area Scottish Borders . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish Monument Lists in Monument Category B. Furthermore, various outbuildings are separately protected as monuments.

history

Today's mansion is a product of several construction phases. The nucleus was formed by a villa from 1663. Today's vaulted cellar is the oldest fragment of Lamancha and comes from the original building. Before 1832 the manor house was extended and added again this year. In 1927 it was redesigned and reduced in size, giving it its current appearance. The executive architect was J. Drummond Beaton .

A sundial , which is classified as a monument of the highest category A, is set up in the entrance area in front of the main entrance . It dates from the late 17th century. The sundial consists of a richly ornamented desk that rests on a fruit basket. The base on which the fruit basket rests is of a later date.
