Location of Lambda

In anatomy, the lambda is the point on the skull where the sutura lambdoidea ( lambda suture ), which separates the occipital bone ( os occipitale ) from the two parietal bones ( ossa parietalia ), and the sutura sagittalis (arrow suture ), which separates the two parietal bones separate, meet. It is important in craniometry .

In newborns, this is where the triangular posterior fontanel ( fonticulus posterior ) lies , which closes at 3 months of age.
