The State Committee for Inner Mission (formerly the Provincial Committee for Inner Mission in the Province of Brandenburg ), now mostly LAFIM for short , is a diaconal society in Brandenburg.

history

The State Committee for Inner Mission is one of the few associations in Germany that were founded before the Civil Code came into being; it is therefore an association under the old law . On November 1, 1881, the Synod of the Evangelical Church in the Province of Brandenburg dealt for the first time with the considerations of the Synod of Meyeren as to how works of Inner Mission could be supported by the Church. On December 8, 1882, the "Provincial Committee for Inner Mission in the Province of Brandenburg" was created and Lieutenant General Hermann von Redern was elected chairman. In 1883 there was already the first clergy: Pastor Friedrich-Wilhelm Reiche was appointed to the office. In 1932, 50 years after it was founded, the provincial committee already had various work areas, such as hostels at home , recreational facilities, the Märkische Volkshochschule in Ferch (later Lutherüsthaus), old people's homes (e.g. Emmaus-Haus Potsdam, Marthaheim in Buckow - today Ev. Senior Center "Am Wald") as well as a large national missionary and outpatient work. These included the so-called welfare for the endangered , the Märkische Volksmission , Schriftenmission , Trumpet Mission , winter relief service , community care stations, care for offenders and help for the homeless .

The legislation of the newly founded GDR made it necessary in 1951 to found a separate plant for the state of Brandenburg. The State Committee for Internal Mission (LAFIM) in the State of Brandenburg (LAFIM) was thus created. The administrative seat became Potsdam. Pastor Kurt Bohm became the first director. The state committee for internal mission in the state of Brandenburg became a work of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg. In West Berlin the provincial committee continued to exist under the old name.

After the fall of 1989/90, LAFIM expanded its work and finally outsourced work areas to its own companies. The LAFIM mobil non-profit GmbH as a 100% subsidiary was founded for outpatient work. Further work areas will follow.
