The Landesbetrieb Landwirtschaft Hessen (LLH) is a state educational and advisory institution in the state of Hesse . It is a subordinate authority of the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection .

history

The Landesbetrieb Landwirtschaft Hessen was founded on January 1st, 2005 as the successor to the Hessian Service Center for Agriculture, Horticulture and Nature Conservation (HDLGN). He was assigned the tasks of the HDLGN in the field of agriculture and horticulture . On April 1, 2010, the area of responsibility was expanded with the incorporation of the Hessian State Stud Dillenburg .

tasks

The Landesbetrieb Landwirtschaft Hessen takes over the agricultural and horticultural advice, education and specialist information for the agricultural and horticultural businesses in Hessen on behalf of the State of Hessen. As part of its work, the Landesbetrieb Landwirtschaft Hessen converts new knowledge from science and research into practice-relevant recommendations for action. This supports the companies in their work according to their needs. The information from our own experiments, which are carried out at the Schloss Eichhof agricultural center in Bad Hersfeld and five other locations in Hesse, is incorporated into the agricultural advice . Test results from the horticultural trials at the Landesbetrieb Landwirtschaft Hessen-Gartenbauzentrum in Geisenheim are included in the horticultural consultation. The legal guidelines and framework conditions for proper agriculture and horticulture are taken into account. These also include animal-friendly husbandry and forms of use, the conservation of natural resources, the promotion of soil fertility and the preservation and care of parts of the landscape that are worth protecting.
