State forest of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
The Landesforst Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - Establishment of Public Law is a legal institution of public law in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It is based in Malchin .
The institute was set up to protect and increase the forest , to sustainably secure its social, economic, ecological and cultural functions and to develop rural areas.
The institution is run by the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Until the law on the establishment of the State Forestry Agency comes into force , the tasks of the State Forestry Administration and the State Office for Forests and Large Protected Areas are transferred to the State Forestry Agency.

In addition to the management of the institute's own forest (own sphere of activity), the State Forest Agency performs the following tasks as a delegated sphere of activity:
- Promotion of private and corporate forests,
- Preparation of the forest framework,
- Site exploration, forest biotope and natural space mapping,
- forest monitoring,
- Implementation of forest research and experimentation,
- Keeping the forest directory,
- Implementation of administrative procedures under forest law,
- Exercise of forest supervision,
- Performing nature conservation tasks according to the State Forest Act,
- Implementation and support of measures of forest education, nature and environmental education and forest tourism,
- Education.
Legal basis
The Landesforstanstalt was established by law ( Law on the Establishment of the Landesforstanstalt , July 11, 2005, GS Meckl.-Vorp. Gl. No. 790-3). It came into force on January 1, 2006 and, in addition to the state laws on forest and hunting , provides the scope for action.
