history

The Württemberg fruit growing association was founded in 1880 and the Baden state fruit growing association in 1893 . In 1881, the Württemberg fruit growing association published its own monthly magazine Der Obstbau , which was published until April 1943. In 1946 the Württemberg State Fruit Growing Association resumed its work. Since December 1, 1946, the journal Obst- und Gartenbau, the new organ of the association, has been published by Eugen Ulmer . On December 1, 1949, the publication of the journal Obst- und Gartenbau was discontinued and it appeared from January 1, 1950 with Der Obstbau again the old association organ with the Württembergische Landesobstbauverein as the sole publisher, but still in the Eugen Ulmer publishing house.

On January 1, 1968, the Württemberg State Fruit Growing Association and the Baden State Fruit Growing Association merged to form the State Fruit Growing Association of Baden-Württemberg. The new organ of the association was the journal Obst & Garten , which was printed by C. F. Müller Verlag and Verlag Eugen Ulmer. At the general meeting on September 18, 1971, a new statute was adopted, which expanded the tasks of the association from fruit growing to horticulture and landscape maintenance, giving it its current name.

Rolf Heinzelmann has been managing director since October 1st, 1993.
