Landois flap

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Landois flap is a technical device that is mainly used in zoos and wildlife parks . It allows the animals to switch independently between the outdoor enclosure and the cage. At the same time, it protects the inside of the cage from the external weather conditions.

The Landois flap is named after its inventor Hermann Landois , the first director and chairman of the zoo association of the Münster zoo . It was first used in the construction of the new monkey house in the said zoo in 1876 and is therefore also known as the monkey flap .
