The landscape protection area Hochmoor on Mooracker- and 1. Hochmoorweg is a landscape protection area in the district of Aurich in the state of Lower Saxony . It bears the number LSG AUR 00023 and lies entirely in the area of the municipality of Ihlow .
Description of the area
The landscape protection area, designated in 1974, covers an area of 0.22 square kilometers and is located southeast of the Moorackerweg road in the Ludwigsdorf district of Ihlow . It is a "high moor relic in the small-scale alternation of high moor grassland and near-natural degenerate upland moor residue strips with different stages of succession".
According to the district of Aurich, the area is of "special importance for the history of the landscape".
Protection purpose
General protection purposes are the "revitalization of the landscape through the uniqueness and naturalness of the degenerated raised bog remains", the "preservation and restoration of habitats suitable for the location of vegetation units and specific animal species occurrences", "undisturbed recreation in nature and landscape", as well as the "preservation of historically grown cultural landscapes."
