Landscape protection area Lichtenau forests
The Lichtenau Forests landscape protection area is located in the urban area of Lichtenau in the Paderborn district . The landscape protection area (LSG) was designated in 2014 by the district council with the Lichtenau landscape plan. The LSG is located in the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge nature park . The LSG borders directly on the Hochsauerlandkreis . The LSG consists of 22 sub-areas of very different area sizes.

The LSG comprises large, contiguous forest areas of the Egge and the Paderborn plateau. In addition to spruce forests, the LSG also includes large, semi-natural beech and mixed beech forests as well as alder and ash forests that accompany the stream. Other forest formations on temporary and permanently flowing streams, dry valleys and spring areas are also in the LSG. It is the forest areas Schröder Mountain , Urenberg , Mark , Buchenberg , Emden field and Emden Forest , Forest Heath , Herb Ramer Forest , Asseler Forest , Torfbruch , raspberries mountain , Röbbekenberg , book Lieth , light Auerswald , Atteler place , outside Mountain , Imkenberg , houses of wood , Mucht , Hainberg , Vienenburg , Krücke , Bundle , Mittelberg and Nordholz . In the LSG sinkholes and geological outcrops can be found.
Forest stands that are not appropriate to the location should primarily be converted into deciduous forest stands. Suitable single trees or groups of trees should be developed into islands of old wood. Deadwood trees and cave trees should be preserved. Existing grassland areas within the forest areas are to be preserved as stepping stone biotopes and used extensively.
