Gabriele Buschmeier

Gabriele Buschmeier (born March 13, 1955 in Neuhaus Castle near Paderborn ; † July 14, 2020 ) was a German musicologist and has been the vice-president of the collecting society Musikedition since 2012 .

Buschmeier studied German, history and musicology at the universities of Cologne, Mainz and Paris. After completing her doctorate with a thesis on “The development of the scene and aria in French opera from Gluck to Spontini”, she became a collaborator and later project manager of the Gluck Complete Edition . Since 1994 she has worked as a senior consultant for the coordination of musicological editions in the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz.
