The Möhneaue landscape protection area with 36.7  hectares is located in the Arnsberg urban area . It was designated in 1998 with the Arnsberg landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerland district as a landscape protection area (LSG) type C (meadow valleys) . It is north of Moosfelde . The LSG consists of two sub-areas and borders directly on the settlement area. The nature reserve Tiefes Tal / Langesberg / Höinger Berg borders in the Soest district .

Protection purpose

The designation was made to secure and maintain the efficiency of the natural balance or the usability of the natural assets; because of the variety, character or beauty of the landscape and its particular importance for recreation. The designation is intended to secure open spaces in the outskirts.

Legal regulations

In the landscape protection area, among other things, the erection of structures is prohibited.
