The landscape protection area outskirts of Hagen with 56.8  hectares is located in the urban area of Sundern and in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) for the first time in 1993 with the Sundern landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis with the name landscape protection area southern and eastern outskirts of Hagen and an area of ​​7.76 ha. When the Sundern landscape plan was reorganized, the LSG was given a new name and significantly enlarged. The LSG was designated as a type B landscape protection area - peripheral locations, landscape character . The LSG originally had two sub-areas and currently six sub-areas.

The LSG is around Hagen (Sundern) and Aussiedlerhöfe on the edge of the settlement. The LSG is part of the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park . The LSG mainly comprises grassland and some fields.

Protection purpose

Legal regulations

As in the other type B landscape protection areas in the urban area, the LSG prohibits the construction of structures. Construction projects for horticulture, agriculture and forestry are exempt from the ban. The Lower Nature Conservation Authority can issue exceptional permits for buildings of all kinds. As in the other type B landscape protection areas in Sundern, the LSG prohibits first afforestation and the creation of Christmas trees , ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures .

As for all landscape protection areas of type B in the landscape plan area, the requirement was issued to keep the area free of forest through agricultural use or through suitable maintenance measures.
