Schmallenberg Northwest landscape protection area
The Schmallenberg Northwest landscape protection area with an area of 7166.6 hectares is located in the Schmallenberg urban area . The landscape protection area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) in 2008 with the Schmallenberg Northwest landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . The LSG is located in the northwest of the urban area of Schmallenberg. Most of these are forests with spruce and intensively used grassland.
The LSG Schmallenberg Northwest has been designated as LSG Type A, General Landscape Protection. Among other things, it is forbidden to erect buildings. Initial afforestation and the new planting of Christmas tree cultures, ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures are subject to official approval from the Lower Landscape Authority and, since 2016, the Lower Nature Conservation Authority . In the city there is also the LSG Type A landscape protection area Schmallenberg Southeast . There are also 129 nature conservation areas of type B and C.
Legal regulations
Initial afforestation and also the new planting of Christmas tree cultures, ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures are subject to official approval from the Lower Landscape Authority . As in the other type A landscape protection areas, the LSG prohibits building structures. Construction projects for horticulture, agriculture and forestry, the public supply of electricity, gas, telecommunications services, heat and water, wastewater management or an existing adjacent commercial operation are excluded from the ban ( Section 35 (1) No. 1 and 2 of the Building Code ). The construction of wind turbines and hydropower plants is also permitted with a building permit.
