description
The LSG covers a large area of all areas in Winterberg that are outside of the building area and other protected areas with stricter requirements. In the LSG there are mainly forest areas, as well as large Christmas tree , ornamental branches and tree nursery crops and smaller areas with open land. In the open country there is almost only intensively used grassland and a few arable land. Most of the forests are covered with spruce.
Protection purpose
The designation was made to secure and maintain the natural suitability for recreation and the efficiency of the natural balance against the diverse civilizational demands on nature and landscape.
Legal regulations
In the Winterberg landscape protection area, among other things, the erection of buildings is prohibited. Construction projects for horticulture, agriculture and forestry are exempt from the ban. Initial afforestation and the new planting of Christmas tree cultures, ornamental twigs and tree nursery cultures are subject to official approval from the Lower Nature Conservation Authority .
