Landschreiber competition

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Landschreiber-Competition is an international language and literature prize that is linked to a stay in an author's residence on the North Sea . The competition was announced for the first time in 2012. It was conceived and set up by the German scholar Klaus Siewert . The patron of the competition is the non-profit International Society for Special Language Research (IGS) .

target

The competition aims to encourage reflection on language and its literary transformation. Reflection and transformation are aimed at a contemporary relevant topic (see section “Topics”). The literary process is intended to make people aware of the essential features as well as the limits and possibilities of language and create a special literary culture resulting from them. Another concern of the competition is to find and support young, as yet unknown authors.

subjects

The central theme of the competition is the German language as a metalanguage and object language. Annual themes provide the framework:

  • 2012/2013: With language on language
  • 2014: language and camouflage
  • 2015: Language and categories of being
  • 2016: language and elements
  • 2017: Language and Mobility
  • 2018/2019: Language and Flight
  • 2019/2020: Language and Environment
  • 2020/2021: Language and Politicians
  • 2021/2022: language and loneliness

Language and branches

The texts should be written in German. They can be prosaic or lyrical and deal with the topic in a playful, language-critical, satirical , fantastic , reflexive or descriptive way . The choice of linguistic variety is free: the text does not necessarily have to be in standard language.
