After the election, the Wohleb I cabinet , a coalition government made up of the CDU (emerged from BCSV) and the SPD, was formed and ruled from late June 1947 to early January 1948. From the end of January 1948 until the founding of the state of Baden-Württemberg on April 25, 1952, a single CDU government ruled with the Wohleb II and Wohleb III cabinets .

On May 29, 1951, the electoral term originally set for four years expired . Due to the planned merger of the federal states, the current electoral term was extended to March 31, 1952. The new state of Baden-Württemberg was formed on April 25, 1952, with the result that the state of Baden was practically without a representative body between April 1 and 24, 1952.
