description

The church building is on the southern edge of Langholm on the right bank of the Esk , which divides the village. The Wauchope Water separates it from the western parts of Langholm. The neo-Gothic building was completed in 1843 after a year of construction. The important Scottish architects William Burn and David Bryce are responsible for the design .

The masonry of the relatively large, elongated building consists of stone blocks with offset, polished natural stone details . Buttresses divide the seven-axis-wide side facades with their lancet windows vertically. On the south side, covered entrance areas emerge on both sides. Pointed cornices crown the windows. A cornice runs beneath the final slate-covered gable roof . On the south side there are three lancet windows with leaded glass windows . The ogival main portal is in the north facade. First employed sits a roof turret with open ringing on the pediment.
