Laparoscopic single access surgery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Single Access Laparoscopic Surgery or laparoscopic single access surgery is a surgical method of minimally invasive surgery with only one access . This makes it a special form of laparoscopic surgery . A common abbreviation for the term is the acronym SALS .

principle

In contrast to other methods of minimally invasive surgery, this procedure only requires a single access to the operating area inside the body. This is made possible by the fact that access is through the navel and thus both the imaging and the surgical instruments can be brought through this single opening into the manipulation area in the body. This limits the number of remaining surgical scars to one.

With this method it is currently possible to perform gallbladder, stomach, appendix, colon and inguinal hernia operations.
