Lapis manalis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The lapis manalis ( Latin lapis : "stone") was a stone in the Roman religion with which the mundus cereris was usually closed. It is widely believed that it is a fetish for use on an aquaelicium . While generally speaking only of one stone, Fulgentius of Ruspe , referring to Labeo , speaks of several. Paul the deacon , who considers him to be such, separates him from the stone of the aquaelicium.
