The Ginjinha Espinheira, which still exists today, opened on the south side of the square in 1840 . The Lisboa, Cidade da Tolerância monument was unveiled on April 23, 2008 on the north side of the square . On wall panels, Lisbon is described in 34 languages as the city of tolerance. With him, the Patriarchate of Lisbon honored Judaism and asked for forgiveness for not being able to prevent the massacre of 1506.
