Las Tombas de las Fées

The dolmen Las Tombas de las Fées (also called Saint-Elbé or Las Tombas das Fadas) is located in the field south of the hamlet of Rougeac, east of Mazeyrat-d'Allier near Le Puy-en-Velay in the Haute-Loire department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

Despite its destruction, the dolmen is an imposing monument. There is an exact description from 1880 where it is described as a gallery tomb . A ruthless excavation 50 years later destabilized the western row of bearing stones and caused the collapse. All capstones are missing. There was a corridor with stones in a pile in the neighboring field.

The villagers attributed the construction of the facility, which has been classified as a Monument historique since 1862, to the fairies .

The dolmen has been classified as a monument historique since 1986 .
