The Laserzsee is a mountain lake in East Tyrol . It is located next to the Karlsbader Hut at an altitude of 2260 meters in the Laserzkessel in the Lienz Dolomites . There is still a very small body of water between the lake and the hut, which is why the Laserzsee is occasionally referred to as the Großer Laserzsee , and the smaller one is accordingly referred to as the Kleiner Laserzsee .

legend

A legend tells of a dairymaid and her husband. His brother was so jealous of him that he struck him down with his dairy rod. After the murder, he felt a bad conscience, whereupon he fled into the mountains and drowned himself in the Laserzsee. But since his guilt was unpunished, from then on he drove his mischief as a sea spirit, which plagued people with various plagues. The farmers in the area blamed the dairymaid for the ghost and chased her away from her pasture. After she had lived in the forest for some time, a farmer told her how she could find salvation by finding the dairyman's staff with which to use Man was slain. In her search, she finally reached the Laserzsee, on the banks of which she spent the night. In the dream the ghost of the murderer appeared to her, who told her where to find the dairy cattle rod, which in turn would let him calm down. She found the staff, returned to the village, and was taken back by the people.
