The Galitzenbach , in the upper reaches of the Kerschbaumertalbach , is a brook in the Drautal ( Lienz district ). The Galitzenbach rises in the area of the Kerschbaumeralm Schutzhaus and flows north of the Galitzenklamm into the Drau.

course

The Galitzenbach rises north of the Kerschbaumeralm Schutzhaus on the northern slopes of the Carnic Alps between Weittalsattel, Weittalspitze ( 2539  m above sea level ) and Zochenpass, whereby the stream up to the confluence of the Laserzbach is known as the Kerschbaumertalbach . After flowing through the Kerschbaumeralm, the Kerschbaumeralmbach plunges over the Klapffall and flows through the wooded Kerschbaumertal, where it takes up the Hallebach on the left. At the end of the Kerschbaumeralm valley, the Laserzbach joins on the right, whereby the creek is now referred to as the Galitzenbach. After the confluence of the Laserzbach, the Galitzenbach turns to the southwest and flows through the Galitzenklamm in the lower reaches, before it flows into the Drau north of the gorge or west of the Amlach power station . With the exception of the last meter of the river before it flows into the Drau (Leisach municipality), the Galitzenbach flows exclusively in the Amlach municipality.
