Load-dependent pressure limiter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The load-dependent pressure limiter ( LAD for short ) is a purely mechanical brake force distribution and regulation system for vehicles from the IFA combine.

function

Functionally, this vehicle component consisted of a load receiver and a spring-piston combination. This was made in several different configurations. The regulation itself took place via intervention in the hydraulic circuit of the brake system . The flow cross-section in the brake circuit in question was changed using sliding pistons.

Executions

In the simplest design, the possible total mass of the vehicle was determined using the compression travel of the rear axle in order to then regulate the braking force on the rear axle against a sliding piston.

In the extended design it was also possible to distribute and regulate the braking force specifically between the front and rear axles.
