Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

The Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is a United States- based Lutheran church that includes congregations in Canada and South America. It is shaped by Lutheran immigrants from Latvia and their descendants. Established in 1957 as an association of congregations, it was constituted as a separate church in 1975 and formed a sub-division of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia in exile (since 1991 the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church abroad ). In 2007 it had 10,950 parishioners in 60 parishes.

The headquarters of the Church is in Milwaukee , Wisconsin . The church president has been Gunārs Lazdiņš since 2015, as the successor to Lauma Zušēvica, who was elected Archbishop of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church abroad .
