The museum farm Laufás is located on the east bank of the Eyjafjörður in northern Iceland . Laufás is located 30 kilometers by road northeast of Akureyri in the rural municipality of Grýtubakki . The walls and the rear gable of the houses are made of peat bricks.

A church has stood here since the Christianization of Iceland. This peat yard was built in the middle of the 19th century and was the pastor's residence until 1936. The old rectory can be visited daily over the summer.
