Playpen made of wood

A playpen , also playpen , playpen or walking school , is a definition of a protected game area or stay area for a toddler to protect it inflicted injury to himself.

history

Traditionally, playpens were made of wood and consisted of a rectangular or often square shape. The walls mostly consisted of vertically arranged wooden bars and thus resembled a cot .

Modern playpens are usually rollable and the basic construction is mostly made of metal and plastic . There are also many playpens made of solid wood . Pine or beech is often used for this.

However, there are also lightweight, collapsible playpen with mesh covering. The floor is usually laid out with a mattress. The side bars are high enough to reliably prevent the child from climbing out. In many models, however, rods can be removed to allow crawling in and out when used under supervision.

However, there are also playpens made of plastic without a bottom, which can be arranged in almost any shape. These are also suitable for setting up in the garden, for example. Furthermore, playpens are available where the floor can be adjusted in height so that it can be lowered further as the toddler gets older.

There are also playpens that can be converted into a four-poster bed with a mobile , a changing table , an extra bed or a table.

Playpens offer enough space, especially in early childhood, in order not to restrict freedom of movement.
