Running horizon

When running horizon designate archaeologists former ground surface - a horizon or stratum - a landscape , a village square or a building that at a excavation was exposed.

In areas with sediment deposits , the old running horizon has been preserved, in contrast to the prevailing soil erosion , in which finds are only to be expected in depressions (pits, trenches, post pits ).
