Laughlin River Run

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Laughlin River Run is an annual biker event in Laughlin , Nevada . It is the third largest event of its kind in the United States after Daytona Beach Bike Week and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally .

history

The meeting was first held in 1983. It was organized by the two Harley-Davidson dealers Dale Marschke and Joe O'Day. 426 motorcyclists took part in this first meeting. The meeting grew steadily and reached its peak with just over 75,000 participants in the mid-2000s. From around 2006 the number of participants fell again and dropped to around 43,000 participants. There are currently around 43,000 participants. The event takes place in April and also attracts many members of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs . The event lasts five days and includes the usual components of a motorcycle meeting, i.e. a dealer mile, concerts by well-known stars such as ZZ Top , Jonny Lang or Warrant , strip shows , joint trips, stunt shows and competitions in various disciplines.

The meeting gained notoriety through the Laughlin River Run riot on the night of April 26th to 17th, 2002, in which a mass brawl between the Hells Angels and the Mongols MC resulted in the death of three men.

Laughlin is attractive as an event location because of the high density of casinos and the associated accommodation options in hotels. The event has been organized by the organizer Dal-Con Promotions for several years . Donations will also be collected on the four days. This brings together about 50,000 United States dollars annually , which is administered by the Laughlin River Run Foundation.
