The Mongols MC has its main presence in Southern California and has branches ("chapters") in 14 states as well as international chapters in Australia , Germany , Italy , Sweden , Mexico and Spain . The chapters in Canada disbanded in 2010 for internal reasons. The Mongols have a long friendship with the Outlaws MC .

activities

United States

Many members in the United States are characterized by protracted confrontations with law enforcement agencies in areas such as drug trafficking (especially methamphetamine ), money laundering , robbery , extortion , gun law violations, manslaughter and assault, and other crimes.

In 1998, ATF official William Queen, alias "Billy St. John", infiltrated the club. He became a full member and rose to the rank of Treasurer . In April 2000, after the Queen had collected evidence for 28 months, 54 Mongols were arrested.

In 2002, the Mongols and the Hells Angels had a violent altercation at Harrah's Laughlin Casino in Laughlin , Nevada . The confrontation was later dubbed the Laughlin River Run Riot and killed three people. Mongol Anthony "Bronson" Barrera, 43, was stabbed to death, the two Hells Angels Jeramie Bell, 27, and Robert Tumelty, 50, were shot. On February 23, 2007, Hells Angels members James Hannigan and Rodney Cox were sentenced to two years in prison for their involvement in the incident. Cox and Hannigan were videotaped beating Mongols inside the casino. A Hells Angels member was clearly identified on the casino security video when he kicked a Mongol in the face, which in turn was the main point of the scuffle. The fugitive Mongol member Christopher Ablett surrendered to the authorities in Bartlesville , Oklahoma on October 4, 2008 after he assassinated Hells Angels President Mark "Papa" Guardado in San Francisco earlier this year. The San Francisco Police Department then issued a $ 5 million bounty on him.

On October 21, 2008, 38 members, including Ruben "Doc" Cavazos (the then international president of the Mongol MC), were taken into custody during the operation "Operation Black Rain". Four ATF officers infiltrated the group a second time. 110 arrest warrants and 160 search warrants have been issued in California, Ohio , Colorado , Nevada , Washington, and Oregon . On October 23, 2008, US magistrate Florence-Marie Cooper issued an injunction. Club members, their family members and supporters were prohibited from wearing, licensing, selling or distributing the logo. Usually the logo (also called a patch) shows a Mongolian warrior wearing sunglasses. According to police, the Mongols are using the logo and name as a form of intimidation to accomplish their goals.

After a long legal battle over the Mongols-MC-Patch, the Mongols won back the rights to further use and at the same time the ownership of their patch.

Europe

After the first attempt to gain a foothold in Europe failed in Essen in 2006 , a new offshoot was created in 2007 in Bologna, Italy . A short time later, the Prospect Chapters Pistoia and Massa-Carrara as well as a Swiss Prospect Chapter were founded, which was dissolved a short time later. The Mongols MC Europe announced on June 26th 2011 that a chapter had been founded in Spain . There is also a chapter in France ( Forbach ), the Réunion Island chapter was dissolved in June 2013.

Italy

In 2007 the Mongols MC announced that it had a chapter in Bologna , Italy. This was soon confirmed and chapters followed in Tuscany (North-Side), Lombardy (Black Hills) and Latium (South-Bay, Nomads). At the Verona Moto Expo 2009 there were clashes between the Mongols and the Hells Angels, which were separated by the local police.

Germany

In August 2010 , Arabic-speaking Mhallami from the Miri clan founded a German offshoot of the Mongol MC in Bremen . Only the fatally injured co-founder of the chapter had obtained the driving license two weeks before his death. In 2010, the president turned away from the group, disappointed: "None of them had a motorcycle and they just kept doing stupid things and stress".

According to a general ruling by the Bremen City Office on May 11, 2011, it was forbidden to wear clothing and other items from the Mongol MC in the city area. On May 20, 2011, the Mongols MC Bremen was banned by the Senator for Interior and Sport of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen . According to the authorities, the sole purpose of the association was to commit crimes. "The president and leading members of the Bremen Mongols are highly criminal and ready to use violence." The police searched the club rooms and confiscated the property. The action against the association ban was later dismissed by the Federal Administrative Court.

In January 2011 the Berlin Chapter was founded , which was disbanded by the police after bombs were found. In addition, there will be a Karlsruhe chapter as well as the Probechapter Cologne ( Cologne ), Frontline South, Mountainside and Kiel . There are also chapters in Celle (Dark District), Cuxhaven (North Coast) and Iserlohn . In July 2014, the press announced the establishment of a chapter in Hamburg .

In 2015 the head of the Hamburg Mongols, Erkan Uzun, was arrested. He was succeeded by Kevin S. In 2016, the Deputy Chief of the Mongols, Arash R., was attacked and seriously injured.
