Launch and Early Orbit Phase

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The launch and early orbit phase , or LEOP for short , is the first phase of a satellite mission .

It begins with the launch of the satellite (Engl. Launch ) and ends with the entry into a preliminary orbit (Engl. Early orbit ) around the earth. This is followed by the In Orbit Test , IOT for short , in which all components are checked for functionality. If the result is positive, the launch is considered successful, and responsibility for the satellite often changes from the organization that provided the launcher or a specialized LEOP control center to the operator of the satellite.
