Laura U. Klemke (born April 17, 1981 in Warendorf ) is a German guitarist.

Career

Laura Klemke comes from a musical family. Her great-grandfather already performed as a pianist, her grandmother and great-aunt were opera singers and organists, and her father and his brother were also professional musicians. In 1984 she appeared in public for the first time together with her older brother Samuel and from the age of four received systematic guitar lessons from her father. In 2000 she began her studies with Monika Rost at the Liszt School of Music Weimar , which she graduated with a diploma in summer 2004. This was followed by postgraduate studies as a soloist with Thomas Müller-Pering and postgraduate studies in chamber music with Monika Rost, both also in Weimar. In 2008 she received the solo concert diploma.

Laura Klemke played in many European countries, in North, South America and Japan and was able to take part in numerous radio programs there. In addition to solo appearances, she is active in the chamber music field or as a soloist with orchestras. She gives concerts in various line-ups, especially with her brother as the guitar duo Klemke . The repertoire includes music from the Renaissance to the present day. Her interest in new music should also be noted: she works with contemporary composers and has already premiered several works.

The intensive occupation with handwritten music led not only to her practical work, but also to some theoretical work, such as B. the development of the entire lute works of the baroque German composer Adam Falckenhagen for the modern guitar.
