Laurence Professor of Ancient Philosophy
The Laurence Professor of Ancient Philosophy in the Faculty of Classics of the University of Cambridge is a professorship that was created for its first holder on December 5, 1930, along with other academic positions, on the basis of a foundation from the estate of the classical philologist , lawyer and judge Sir Perceval Maitland Laurence , Francis MacDonald Cornford , was established. It focuses exclusively on ancient philosophy and is the only chair in this specialization worldwide. Another professorship from this foundation is the Laurence Professor of Classical Archeology .
