history

Lauritz.com branch in Hamburg

Lauritz Christensen Auctions was founded in 1885. From the initial headquarters at Søtorvet in Copenhagen, the house had established itself over the years as a small, reputable and traditional auction house .

In 1998, the previously family-run auction house was taken over by Bengt Sundstrøm. His main idea was to bring the auctions from physical space to the internet . In December 1999 was Lauritz Christensen the Lauritz.com A / S. The first internet auction started on December 9, 1999 and ended 14 days later.

Since spring 2000 there have only been internet auctions. The bids are placed exclusively on the Internet, where all goods are presented with a description, photo and estimated price.

Lauritz has 27 auction houses in 5 countries (Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden and Norway), where sellers deliver goods and buyers can view them on a daily basis. Around 1,800 auctions start every day and usually run for seven days. Lauritz.com has 362 employees, almost half of whom are valuation experts. The company had a turnover of around 145 million euros in 2015.

In March 2013 Lauritz bought the rival QXL in Denmark and Norway, and in September 2014 the auction house Stockholms Auktionsverk.

Since June 22, 2016, the company's shares have been listed on the Nasdaq First North Premium.

Lauritz.com in Germany

The first branch in Germany opened in 2006 in Hamburg on the large Elbstraße. Since then, branches have continued to open in Cologne and Düsseldorf.
